Liam’s newfound confidence

Liam is a joyful, kind and gentle young man who radiates positivity. He blossomed into a confident and independent young man, known for his hard work, warmth, and determination while at college.  

His journey on the Personal Development and Active Citizenship pathway helped him build vital communication skills, developing his independence and confidence to engage with a wide range of people.  

When Liam first joined National Star, he was quiet and hesitant. But with the encouragement of staff and peers, he made incredible progress. Liam transitioned from college able to communicate clearly with staff and fellow students and was always willing to approach others for conversation or support.

Liam’s newfound confidence opened up new experiences, during his time at college. He worked in StarBistro, the onsite café open to the public, and StarMart, the onsite shop for students and staff. These roles strengthened his money management and computer skills. StarMart helped Liam to become more comfortable greeting customers, handling transactions, and working as part of a team.  

These opportunities encouraged Liam to actively engage more in his community. He now feels more comfortable visiting supermarkets, travelling locally, and talking with new people.  

Liam’s time at National Star transformed him into a confident, capable, and joyful young man. His willingness to approach others, his independence in daily life, and his enthusiasm for learning new skills demonstrate the progress he has made.  

Now living at home, Liam continues to build on his confidence and independence by engaging in community activities such as rugby and tennis. With his positivity, determination, and love of connection, Liam’s future is full of promise.
