Students have created lifelong memories when they transferred their learning to the slopes of Andorra during an unforgettable ski adventure.
The ski experience is a chance for students to challenge themselves, build confidence, and make lifelong memories. Months of hard work with the physiotherapy team ensures students are strong and fit enough for the gruelling week.
The trip was filled with inspiring moments, as each student overcame a personal challenge and embraced new experiences. Harry’s journey was particularly special, knowing he would need to overcome his fear of wearing a helmet before being allowed onto the slopes for safety. Harry thought the week would be spent building up his confidence before hitting the slopes towards the end
of the week. To everyone’s surprise, as soon as Harry arrived, the helmet was on, and he was ready to tackle the pistes. His mum shared her joy, saying: ‘We are very proud of what he achieved.’
‘By the look on his face in so many of the photos, I think it’s safe to say he had the best time.’
For Dan, the trip pushed him out of his comfort zone and proved he could be independent away from home. He seized the opportunity with enthusiasm and made sure to keep mum updated with video calls and photos. Dan shared: ‘I had a fantastic week. I went to bed at crazy times as I was so tired from a full day of skiing! I even ate a whole pizza.’
Jack’s experience was just as memorable. He set himself the ‘Super Jack Challenge’ which involved him standing at the top of the mountain. He achieved his king of the mountain goal and stood proudly.
Eleanor, initially anxious about heights and the gondola lifts, ended up embracing the experience and loving every moment on the slopes. Meanwhile, Laurie’s family were thrilled to see his huge smile in every photo, showing just how relaxed and confident he was during the experience.
The National Star ski experience is not a holiday. It is a life-changing experience for many students. The smiles, excitement, and achievements witnessed during the week reflect the personal growth that comes from students taking on new challenges.
One thing is certain, this adventure on the slopes has sparked a newfound love for skiing, with many already planning their next trip abroad.
We can’t wait to see where their confidence and courage takes them next!
