In the early hours of 12 April 2026, 220 walkers gathered for National Star’s 5th annual Sunrise Walk.

The 13k route took walkers through the stunning Cotswold landscape where they were treated to a beautiful sunrise. People of all ages took part. Some walked with friends, others walked with family whilst some took part with colleagues. For many, the walk was deeply personal, raising vital funds for a charity that has transformed the lives of their loved ones.

That impact was powerfully captured by Billy’s family who shared why the Sunrise Walk means so much to them. They said: ‘Billy is currently in his final year at National Star, and he has thrived over the past three years. His life really has been transformed. He is walking today not only as part of the event, but as part of his Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award qualification.’

We couldn’t run these fundraising events without the incredible support of our volunteers and our event sponsors.

We are very grateful to coombes:everitt architects and Safran for kindly sponsoring the event and to Bensons the Juicers who sponsored the pit stop which gave everyone an opportunity to refuel, take in the views and encourage one another forward.

On completion of the walk everyone was treated to a breakfast bap kindly provided by Creed Foodservice.

Robert Hall, who was part of the Robert Hall Group team taking part, said: ‘As a local company we believe in supporting local businesses and participating in this year’s Sunrise Walk is an opportunity to give something back to National Star as acknowledgment for their passion, expertise, and everything they have provided for people with disabilities for almost 60 years.’

Event organiser, Monica Farthing said: ‘Thank you to everyone who took part in and made this year’s event possible. Together we have raised over £20,000 which is incredible. All of the money raised will go towards funding much-needed equipment and resources which will ensure each young person with complex disabilities can live fuller and more independent lives.’

Fancy experiencing this for yourself? Join us next year during our 60th anniversary, walk with a purpose, have fun with friends and make a difference.
