Our amazing long-service staff
We were delighted that some of our staff at Foundation House were recognised for their commitment to National Star at our Long-service Awards. Sue Powell (Night Facilitator), Dita Petreckova (Night Facilitator), Julie Johnson (Nurse), Tash Wheeler (Medication Administration Assistant) and Jon Brinkworth (Residential Manager) have been with us for an incredible 20 years.
Sue has been called upon on more than one occasion when new units at National Star have opened their doors. Working initially at Shortwood, she was asked to join Cleeve when it first opened and now works at Foundation House. A devoted grandma, Sue now works part-time so that she has more time to spend with her grandchildren.
Dita began her time at National Star as a volunteer. She then chose to work as a facilitator and has worked in many different areas of National Star such as Cleeve, Wilson Court and Foundation House. She is a very knowledgeable and experienced facilitator and a great member of the team.
Julie is an extremely valuable member of staff at Foundation House. As well as being a fantastic nurse and a great member of staff, Julie is also a great trainer, and the sessions she delivered on the medication Buccolam went down a storm. We are extremely lucky to have her!
Tash worked for several years as a facilitator before deciding to take the leap and train as a medication administration assistant. It was a big step for her and took a lot of courage, and we’re thrilled to say that she has gone from strength to strength in her new role. Tash is known for her commitment and care of the residents, as well as the support she gives her fellow team members.
Jon, manager at Foundation House, started life at National Star as a facilitator and has worked across most of our residential areas. He led Foundation House to achieve its ‘Outstanding’ rating at its last Care Quality Commission inspection and he thrives on seeing residents and students achieve their potential. Despite the challenges faced these recent years – including those created by the pandemic, Foundation House has remained an exemplary care home in Gloucester under his leadership.
