Meet Jess and Kaena
Let us introduce you to two of Foundation House’s newest staff members – Senior Facilitator Jess Hobson and Facilitator Kaena Price.
Jess joined the team in November after spending seven and a half years working at a residential home for young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
When she saw National Star’s vacancy for a Senior Facilitator she knew it would be the right next step for her.
‘I felt it was time to step out of my comfort zone and take a chance at progressing, learning new skills and hopefully sharing some of my existing skills too,’ said Jess.
‘National Star has an excellent reputation within the caring industry and I couldn’t give up the chance of possibly joining such a highly thought of organisation.’
It wasn’t long before Jess was soon getting involved in the wealth of activities being organised for residents.
‘It was perfect timing. We had a Bake Off competition, karaoke, and dance games, not to mention parties and board games. What a fantastic way to start a new job.’
Kaena joined National Star in August after searching for a role that would enable her to make a difference.
‘I wanted to join National star from a young age as my auntie has always worked here and she made it seem like the best job in the world,’ said Kaena.
Despite having no previous experience in care, Kaena took part in our award-winning training programme and has flourished. She is now working towards completing a Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care.
In her role, Kaena supports Foundation House’s residents with all aspects of their day-to-day lives, from supporting meal times to planning activities and helping them get ready in the morning.
‘The most rewarding thing is when I know I have actively helped make a difference to their day, either by making them laugh or assisting with problems they face. I look forward to a long career with National Star.’
