Meet…Kara
We would like to give a very warm welcome to Kara Duncalfe who has joined Ledbury Road as Deputy Manager.
Kara has worked in various care settings since leaving school 12 years ago, including adult residential homes, domiciliary care and residential schools. She felt inspired to enter the field by her uncle, who has down’s syndrome.
‘I am a family member of someone who lives independently with support staff, and I have experienced first-hand how important it is for everyone that he is cared for in a way anyone wants their family to be,’ said Kara.
‘Seeing him live life to the fullest and always being happy always sticks in my mind. I bring this with me wherever I work.’
Throughout her career Kara has gained experience working with individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injuries, ADHD, learning disabilities and more. She has worked hard to achieve health and social care qualifications.
Kara can’t wait to settle into her new role, which will include assisting Kerry Hatcher, our Residential Manager, with the day-to-day running of the residence.
‘I am excited to gain more knowledge and experience working for National Star. It’s an organisation that has the young people they support at the front of everything, working on life skills and independence, as well as including them in all of the fundraising events and activities they do. I can’t wait to be a part of it all.’
