Baking up a storm

Our residents love getting busy in the kitchen, and it’s the perfect opportunity to build on their life skills, as well as work together as a team. As Andy, James, John and Elliot particularly enjoy cupcakes, we introduced a regular ‘cupcake day’ at the start of the year, when they can make and decorate their own cupcakes. As part of these activities they assemble the ingredients they need, follow instructions from a cookbook (some residents use an adapted cookbook with PECS – Picture Exchange Communication System – symbols) and help each other.
