Hands-on at The Fold

Elliot has been enjoying weekly work experience visits to The Fold, a farm in Bransford that promotes sustainable living and healthy lifestyles and boasts a café, shop, nature trails and studios.

Elliot has been able to get stuck into a variety of activities, including feeding and cleaning out the hens, collecting eggs, planting seeds, loading and unloading farming materials and supporting the farm’s recycling efforts. Elliot has also taken part in arts and crafts sessions and is attending a weekly campfire with others, where everyone discusses their thoughts and feelings. It’s been fantastic to see Elliot make friends with visitors from other residential homes, and become friendly with The Fold’s dog!

‘He really enjoys his time there,’ said Heather-Louise Mansell, Night Support Worker at Matrixcare.

‘It’s a great way to keep his mind active and busy, and he looks forward to every visit.’
