Job description

Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys the transactional element of HR, but also likes to have involvement with more strategic activities?

National Star is a special education needs organisation providing the opportunity for young people with disabilities to realise their potential as equal and active citizens in control of their lives. This sits at the heart of everything we do, from the personalised and world-class learning we provide via National Star College to training, specialist services and our work in the wider community. All of this is underpinned by both our passion to enrich people’s lives and by our moral and statutory responsibilities.

With more than 1,200 employees, National Star’s HR team plays a key role in the smooth running of our charity.

We’re looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our HR Delivery team of 6 people which includes HRBPs, an Employee Relations specialist and a Wellbeing Advisor. As a team we aim to ensure we’re working collaboratively to provide great customer service and wellbeing advice alongside our employment law knowledge and strategic work.

This varied role will see you supporting and advising a multi-disciplinary team across our services in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Wales , all focussed on ensuring we continue to attract and retain great people to provide exceptional service to our students.

You’ll be the first port of call for managers needing support and guidance on a range of HR queries. Alongside this, you’ll be involved with projects to assist with the implementation of continuous improvement such as succession planning and employee engagement.

You’ll be someone with a good understanding of employment legislation, who has experience building strong working relationships with colleagues. You’ll be comfortable working autonomously and as a key member of a larger team.

This will be a fixed term contract of 12 months working between 28 and 37 hours a week over 4 or 5 days. Our team of HR Business Partners work in a hybrid way, with a proportion of home working balanced with site work depending on organisational need.
