Job description
Are you an innovative and creative teaching professional inspired to use your skills to support people with complex physical and learning disabilities? Join the highly respected team of Personal Learning Co-ordinator and Tutors at National Star.
You will be working 37 hours a week term time (39 weeks). Based primarily at our Greensteps Learning Centre in Cheltenham, we would like you to have access to your own transport to visit other sites and to support your learners through their work placement programmes.
It will be your job to design and deliver high quality programmes of learning for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities who aspire to transition from college into sustainable voluntary and/or paid employment.
Multi-disciplinary work will be critical in your role so that you can ensure students maximise their learning, boosting their independence and wellbeing to prepare them for life and work after college.
You will be part of a delivery team including teachers, job coaches and therapists who work collaboratively to support young people to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for adulthood and working life.
The learners you will work with will have a range of physical disabilities and learning disabilities. You will be skilled at providing highly differentiated theoretical and practical learning opportunities that maximise opportunities for progression and personal development.
It goes without saying that you will be a first-class communicator, who is proactive and forward-thinking with excellent organisational skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a range of external stakeholders.
You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a full teaching qualification (Level Five Diploma in Teacher Education or PGCE). Level 2 qualifications in maths and English are required for this role.
Knowledge and experience of using the Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA) framework, the tried and tested approach to ensuring the quality of non-accredited learning for students with special educational needs is also required.
