Leo’s story

Cool Access Consultancy, founded by former National Star student Leo, champions Changing Places facilities, improving accessibility and inclusivity in UK businesses, public spaces, and beyond through partnerships and lived experience.

The creation of ‘Cool Access Consultancy’ has led a former National Star student on a path of independence and purpose. Leo is on a mission to set a new standard for inclusivity and accessibility in UK businesses, public spaces, and beyond.

During his time at National Star, he witnessed how so many young people with disabilities struggle to access various areas, due to the lack of fully accessible changing place facilities. Standard disabled toilets fall short for those who cannot use them independently.

During his time at college, Leo gained skills in communication and independence. This gave him the confidence to complete an additional learning programme within StarPrint. All of which encouraged him to begin setting up his business.

That’s where ‘Cool Access Consultancy’ comes in. As his first act of business, Leo visited Cotswold Farm Park to assess the Changing Places facilities provided by Astor Bannerman. Pleased with what he saw, he immediately contacted Astor Bannerman and set up a meeting. This resulted in Cool Access Consultancy’s first business partnership.

Working in partnership with Astor Bannerman and National Star, Cool Access Consultancy has launched the Changing Places project. This combines their technical solutions, specialist training, and lived experiences to support their initiative to expand and improve accessible toilets and changing facilities throughout the UK.
