Preparing you for adulthood

Wherever you learn with us our goal is to help you realise your aspirations.

We have a broad range of students and have created three programmes of learning. These maximise the outcomes that can be achieved by our students, regardless of their disabilities.

There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ National Star student. We celebrate the diversity of all learners, who bring something vibrant and special to college. We work with young people with a range of complex and multiple learning and physical disabilities, so we know you’ll fit right in and soon see National Star College as your ‘home from home.’

By getting to know our prospective students and their families before they join us we are able to personalise their learning programme.  For example, a learner with an acquired brain injury will have a timetable that has a balance of therapeutic and learning activities, whilst appreciating their high levels of fatigue. For students with the potential to gain paid employment after college we will tailor a programme to develop their communication, team-working and numeracy. In practice this will involve a wide range of work-based placements that will help them to decide what they want to do and gain relevant skills and experience.

We are experts in working as part of multi-disciplinary teams to enable students to make measurable progress and achieve EHCP outcomes.

We are passionate about supporting students with special educational needs prepare for adulthood. We want to understand your interests, aspirations and needs so we can build the right personalised programme and support plan. Come for a visit, meet our team and current students and decide whether you would like to be part of the National Star family.
