Part-time job for Tom after his supported internship at BP Motors

Skills for Work Supported Intern Tom

Tom landed his dream job when he left National Star after previously facing barriers to learning and work throughout his life because of his autism and dyslexia.

After signing up to our Skills for Work supported internship Tom began working at BP Motors, a vehicle repair garage. He worked as part of a small team buffing and polishing cars, cleaning interiors and sweeping the floor.

Tom managed his own timekeeping and travelled independently to work each day. After impressing managers at BP Motors Tom now has a paid part-time job within the business. He is now thinking about undertaking further qualifications in English and maths.

‘Tom worked extremely hard during his time on the supported internship which has paid off,’ said Catrin Garland, Supported Internship Job Mentor.

‘He left college with a lot of transferable skills that will hold him in good stead for his future.
