North East London Supported Internship

This Steps into Work Supported Internship is based at GLL Leisure Centres. The centres we use are Hackney Marshes Centre, The Aquatic Centre, York Hall, Middlegate House and Mile End. Tasks include setting up for events, supporting activities, cleaning, administration, reception work and childcare. This will allow you to develop your employability skills and move into work in the leisure or sports industry, customer services, childcare or administration.

The programme is for people aged 16 to 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan. It runs for one year, is term-time only and four days a week. Most of your time will be spent in the workplace with the support of a job coach and tutor. Interns study towards a Certificate in Customer Services, as well as English and maths qualifications. Support with travelling on new routes to different locations is built into the programme.

At the end of the programme you will be supported to search for jobs, apply for jobs and attend interviews. Currently, 75% of interns successfully move into paid jobs.
