LiftTraining - Derbyshire

LiftTraining Derbyshire provides free Independent Travel Training (ITT) for young people with disabilities, learning difficulties and behavioural, emotional and social concerns. This enables them to develop the skills and confidence they need to independently travel to school or colleges using a range of public transport.

We offer two types of training: LiftAbility and LiftAwareness. Find out more by taking a look at the table below and complete the referral form.

What is it?

Free independent travel training for young people with learning and physical disabilities, enabling them to access education using different types of public transport Delivering travel safety messages through classroom sessions and group trips. Our topics include road safety, safe behaviour when travelling, problem solving and journey planning

Who’s it for?

  • People aged between 12 – 24 years with a physical disability or learning difficulty
  • Those who wish to access education independently using public transport
  • Learners attending Special Educational Needs schools
  • Those who want to improve their travel skills in a controlled environment
  • A good precursor for learners interested in LiftAbility but would like more time to explore safe travel concepts as part of a group
