Building a Brighter Future viewing gallery open

Student Union President Chelsea embarked upon her first official engagement of the new academic year when she opened a wheelchair accessible viewing gallery that enables people to watch as contractors build our new much-needed specialist student accommodation at National Star in Ullenwood.

Chelsea was supported in her ribbon cutting efforts by Deputy Site Manager Tim Burt and Site Manager Steve Yapp from Speller Metcalfe. The viewing platform, the entrance to which can be found in the top car park overlooking the site, will be open when workers are on site.

Earlier this month we launched our Building a Brighter Future Appeal to raise the final £1.5m by summer 2023 towards this £6m development. The new accommodation will meet all of the needs of the young people who depend on us, and it will mirror the spacious, well–equipped and homely environment we have at Bradbury Gardens in Cheltenham.

Residents will have easy access to all of our specialist support teams and resources whenever they need them, and they will enjoy such facilities as thirteen comfortable ensuite bedrooms with overhead tracking hoists, wide corridors that can easily accommodate large electric wheelchairs, welcoming social spaces, accessible kitchens, indoor sensory spaces and calming and safe landscaped gardens.
