Gala dinner raises £55,000 for National Star

A gala dinner to mark the end of National Star’s 50th anniversary year has raised £55,000 for the charity.

The special event, which was attended by 180 guests, was held in Gloucester Cathedral with broadcaster Jeremy Vine as the after dinner speaker.

‘The stars of National Star are the people who work there and the young people who go there. It really is an exceptional place,’ said Mr Vine.

Guests were entertained by stilt walkers, a magician, a jazz band and a crystal ball juggler, and enjoyed a four-course gourmet meal created by National Star’s StarBistro in association with Relish.

They were also treated to a performance by Apt, an inclusive community-based dance group, many of whom are wheelchair users and are former students of National Star College.

‘National Star was so fortunate to be permitted to use Gloucester Cathedral for our gala dinner. It made our evening even more special and was a perfect way to end out 50th year,’ said David Ellis, Chief Executive.
