Hartpury University and Hartpury College donate rugby post protector

Hartpury University and Hartpury College have come to the aid of National Star to ensure young people with complex disabilities are kept safe.

The physiotherapy team at National Star were desperate for a rugby post protector to make safe their new rebound trampoline area.

The trampoline area is used for students’ physiotherapy programmes and helps them participate in a fun therapy which improves their fitness, core stability, muscle tone and comfort. It can improve self-esteem.

When Hartpury heard about the request they donated a post protector to National Star.

Polly White, Senior Physiotherapist at National Star, said the post protector has made a huge difference to students.

‘The post protector keeps ambulant students from the hoist post as they move around the room,’ said Polly.

‘Hartpury’s donation means that we have saved money which can now be used for other essential college projects.’

Alan Powderhill, Facilities Manager of the Sports Academy at Hartpury, said: ‘When we heard about the dilemma that the National Star had, we were delighted to be able to help.

‘National Star do some amazing work and it is great that as we are both leading educational establishments in our own field we were able to help them out in this practical way.’
