Hereford long-term living accommodation receives ‘good’ rating from CQC

This was the first inspection for Ledbury Road by the Care Quality Commission since it opened to seven young adults with disabilities in December 2019.

Inspectors took time to speak to many of the staff as well as a parent of one of the residents. They reviewed care plans and risk assessments, as well as inspecting other policies and procedures.

Kindness and Compassion

During the visit inspectors observed that staff supported the young people with disabilities with ‘kindness and compassion.’ They were also impressed that residents were supported to have maximum choice and control over their lives.

Inspectors also commented that care was ‘person-centred’ and that medicine is administered safely and PPE used effectively.

Director of Services John Mann said: ‘Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 over the past 12 months Kerry Hatcher and her team have continued to ensure the young adults in their care are empowered to control how they live their lives, getting involved in local community activities, pursuing hobbies and going on holiday.

‘We are thrilled that the CQC inspectors have recognised the person-centred care and support afforded to residents at Ledbury Road, and the grade is testament to the dedication of the whole team.’
