Introducing our new Student Union

After a period of energetic campaigning National Star students have elected their new Student Union for the next academic year.
Ed Scipio has been elected Student Union President with Katie Leigh Walker as his deputy. The Student Union (SU) works for all students across National Star.
Other students elected onto the Student Union include Thomas Langston Deadman, Cesca Vismara, Frazer Peters, Freddie Bigglestone, Murray Field, Ted Barnard-Edwards, Talia McDowell, Alex Smith and Molly Martin.
Twenty-nine students spent a month campaigning to be elected, with some eye-catching and persuasive posters being displayed to explain why the nominees should be chosen. The voting was extremely close, with all nominees receiving plenty of votes from their peers.
Ed Scipio said that he was surprised and really amazed to find himself elected as Student Union President.
‘I’m really excited to see what’s ahead in the future for the Student Union,’ said Ed.
‘If it wasn’t for this college I do not know where I would be. This has to be seriously the best college I have ever been to – everyone is so friendly.’
Ed, who wants to work in a theatre when he leaves National Star, has just completed three weeks working on the stage door of Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. He knows the experience of leading the SU will boost his employability skills.
Whether National Star students are based at Ullenwood, Hereford or in Wales, the SU enable everyone to have a voice and the best possible experience while at college.
Each year the SU organise social experiences and events at National Star and beyond, and encourage other students to take part in cultural, recreational and social groups and activities.
In addition they work hard to represent the views, concerns and aspirations of students, and campaign on student issues.
