National Star adult learner Sarah tells her story in the Guardian

The Guardian has featured a first-person article written by one of our adult learners. In 2008 Sarah Banks, a design and technology teacher, was involved in a freak accident that saw her being hit on the head with a rugby ball. This resulted in both brain damage and a spinal injury. Despite needing to cope with a whole host of new and frustrating challenges, Sarah was determined that one day she would return to teaching. With the full support of her husband and sons, Sarah enrolled in a course in ceramics at National Star College, and she now assists our Art tutors in running sessions while using her personal experience of disability as a means to provide emotional support to others.
