Thriller Run Happened…And it was Awesome!

Spooks, scares and spectacular obstacles…it can only be Gloucestershire’s first Thriller Run!

More than 300 runners flocked to our Ullenwood campus to tackle a challenging 5k course, complete with tunnels, mazes, water slides and a lake. And if that wasn’t enough, they also had to dodge the 50 zombies ready to take one of their three ‘lives.’

For Finley Yost from Brockworth, who was dressed as a caveman, the run was a 16th birthday treat from his mum Kerry Firth. The pair ran the course together. He said: ‘I wasn’t expecting it but it’s a cool birthday present. We might try to beat each other.’

Cheltenham company Spirax Sarco had two teams of runners who took part in fancy dress.

‘As a company we do quite a lot for National Star and as it is a zombie run it was too good to miss,’ said Stuart Maclachlan, who was wearing a black monk-like robe.

Aimee Kinnash and Abi Chandler, who both work at Commercial Group in Cheltenham, decided to join their friend in the event – but as zombies rather than runners.

‘We don’t like being chased by zombies and would find it too scary, so decided we’d be zombies instead,’ said Abi. ‘If I can get some good screams then I will be happy.’

Among the teams taking part were those from Safehands, RE Recruitment, HSBC, Crow Clarke Whitehill, Intercall Europe, THB and CGT Lettings.

The first of the 210 runners to survive was Anthony Hopton from Longlevens. He said: ‘It was brilliant. There were a few good chases with the zombies and it was a great course.’

Proceeds from the event will all go towards supporting people with physical and learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
