Vaccinations bring hope at National Star
National Star has become one of the first specialist colleges in the UK to vaccinate around 180 of its vulnerable young people with complex disabilities.
There was an air of excitement as students and long-term residents received their first vaccination dose against Covid-19 on Thursday 28 January. For our amazing staff who have been working so hard throughout the pandemic, it was an uplifting day full of hope and optimism that they won’t soon forget.
All the teams at National Star worked incredibly hard to prepare the students and ensure the vaccinations could go ahead with as little anxiety as possible.
A parent summed up how important the day was:
‘Throughout the past year I have known he is in very safe hands and completely trust them (National Star) with the most precious person in my life. Today is such a relief and I shed happy tears. It’s not over but hopefully the end is in sight and we can have real hope that we can become families again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.’
