Research and development
At National Star, we strive to meet the increasingly complex nature of physical and learning disabilities by researching and developing assistive technologies.
To do this, our team of technologists work with a number of developers and specialist colleges to test, trial and develop a variety of equipment. Over the years, this has enabled us to create products that include: a switch-adapted digital SLR camera, a bespoke interface that enables students to operate all of their environmental controls from one device and alternative communication systems enabled through Apple and Android technology.
In addition, we often test assistive technologies for other organisations, when students are given access to the latest and cutting edge technologies to trial and provide their feedback on.
Our research and development work has seen National Star become a finalist in the Tech4Good Awards and be named a technology exemplar organisation.
