Local authorities
At National Star we work in partnership with many local authorities and their regional groups. This allows us to deliver a range of high quality programmes that enable people with disabilities to achieve their personal goals and increase their independence – in turn reducing long-term support costs. Our services are all graded and compliant with Care Quality Commission (CQC), and we are rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Developing local work or learning based provision
We partner with a number of specialist schools and colleges in order to provide young people with disabilities with the support, tools and knowledge they need to live their lives independently and to the full. We offer the following:
LiftTraining
Nationally, our award-winning LiftTraining programme works with local schools and colleges to provide independent travel training to young people with disabilities who would like to use public transport. This provides the skills and confidence they need to access school, college, the workplace or social locations. Click here to find out more or call 01242 527631.
Trialing enabling and assistive technologies
We strive to meet the increasingly complex nature of physical and learning disabilities by researching and developing enabling and assistive technologies. To do this, our team of technologists work with a number of specialist colleges to test, trial and develop a variety of equipment. Over the years this has enabled us to create products that include: a switch-adapted digital SLR camera, a bespoke interface that enables users to operate all of their environmental controls from one device and alternative communication systems enabled through Apple and Android technology. Click here to find out more or call 01242 527631 ext. 5320.
Mainstream school partnerships
Locally, National Star and GlosCol run mutually beneficial link programmes. In addition, National Star College learners have access to many primary and secondary schools as part of their courses. This may see them providing coaching for sports such as boccia, or taking one of our theatre productions ‘on the road.’ For more information please call 01242 527631 ext. 2313.
Supported internships
Nationally, Barking and Dagenham College in London and Burton and South Derbyshire College are two partners who enable us to deliver our Supported Internship programme. For more information please call 01242 527631 ext. 2352.
