Transitioning to National Star College

Partnering with National Star College as a specialist school or college

We partner with a number of specialist schools and colleges in order to provide young people with disabilities with the support, tools and knowledge they need to live their lives independently and to the full. We offer the following:


Nationally, our award-winning LiftTraining programme works with local schools and colleges to provide independent travel training to young people with disabilities who would like to use public transport. Trialing enabling and assistive technologies

We strive to meet the increasingly complex nature of physical and learning disabilities by researching and developing enabling and assistive technologies. To do this, our team of technologists work with a number of specialist colleges to test, trial and develop a variety of equipment. Over the years this has enabled us to create products that include: a switch-adapted digital SLR camera, a bespoke interface that enables users to operate all of their environmental controls from one device and alternative communication systems enabled through Apple and Android technology. International partnerships

We work in partnership with a wide range of international partners to deliver programmes involving staff, learners and business services. Our international offer includes flexible life skills and vocational courses, work skills programmes, supported work placements, specialist teacher training and technology assessment. Partnering with National Star College as a mainstream school or FE college

Mainstream schools and further education colleges play a key role in National Star’s delivery – both locally and nationally.

Mainstream schools

Locally, National Star and GlosCol run mutually beneficial link programmes. In addition, National Star College learners have access to many primary and secondary schools as part of their courses. Supported internships

Disability training

Our StarTraining provision offers a variety of bite-sized training programmes across health, social care and education. These can be mixed and matched to meet your needs. From workforce development and teacher training to Qualification Credit Framework diplomas, our courses are provided by experienced trainers who implement the very latest in innovative best practice. National Star has over 40 years of experience working with learners who have physical, sensory or learning disabilities within a number of different environments. We use an exciting range of equipment, software and expertise to provide accessibility solutions for education, work and home spaces.
