StarBistro hosts first Cider and Food Pairing Evening
On 12 October StarBistro held its first Cider and Food Pairing Evening in partnership with Gabe Cook, The Ciderologist.
Attendees enjoyed a delicious five-course menu prepared by StarBistro head chef Joe Parke, with food expertly paired with a variety of ciders. Gabe was on-hand to talk about the wonderful world of cider throughout the night, and his first book, Ciderology – From History and Heritage to the Craft Cider Revolution – was also available to purchase. Guests even had the opportunity to stay overnight in National Star’s on-site StarGlamping pods.
Cider fan Oli was one of the attendees on the night.
‘I leapt at the chance to attend an evening with a cider expert and five specially-crafted meals, each accompanied with a specially-chosen cider,’ said Oli.
‘The whole experience was fantastic – myself and my partner both learnt a lot about different ciders, enjoyed the amazing StarBistro food and had our first experience of staying in a StarGlamping pod.’
The positive feedback from guests has proved almost overwhelming.
‘A lot of people thanked me on the night,’ said Joe. ‘I think the pig’s head croquette as part of the main course was definitely the favourite, it has quite a powerful flavour.’
Isaac and Lowri, two students at National Star, also took part in the evening and thoroughly enjoyed the unique tasting experience.
Gabe said that it was fantastic to work with StarBistro and be able to demonstrate how cider and food can complement each other.
‘If ever there was an event that demonstrated just how well cider and food can match together, this was it,’ said Gabe.
‘An amazingly adventurous menu from Joe Parke enabled me to demonstrate the breadth and versatility of the wonderful world of cider and perry.’
If you missed out on this fantastic event you can still wow your taste buds by booking a table at StarBistro and enjoying our delicious, seasonal dishes.
