National Star student Freddie has been playing golf since he could walk. Having StarGolf so close to his college has meant he could continue to perfect his game while studying at Ullenwood. He plays golf almost every day during college holidays and was thrilled when his granddad bought him a series of lessons with StarGolf Pro Paul Johnson for Christmas.
It’s no surprise that Freddie, a predominantly left-handed golfer, thinks fellow left-hander Bubba Watson is the best golfer around. With a handicap of 15 Freddie can hold his own on the course at StarGolf. ‘You ought to see my long game, I’ve got some good shots,’ he said when we met him and his dad Geoff on the course recently.
‘Golf is an essential part of Freddie’s life, it helps him to relax. He loves the social side of the game too, meeting new people and chatting to them on the course,’ said Freddie’s dad Geoff.
Golf Pro Paul is full of praise for Freddie and his efforts to improve his game. He said: ‘I was astonished to see what Freddie can do on the golf course, hitting great golf shots left-handed and right-handed, with a totally unconventional setup. I am excited to see what Freddie can do with my help on the fundamentals of golf. He is a very talented young man.’
