Leadership training programme for assistive technology
This two-hour online course has been specifically designed for leaders in schools and colleges.
The course will provide you with a high-level overview of assistive technology (AT) including why high-quality assessment, provisioning and ongoing support of AT is vital for many students with SEND to succeed in their studies.
Teaching with accessible technology: Primary
Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 17 March 2021.
How do you embed skills and become familiar with technology that makes the curriculum more accessible for all? This is the key question answered in this course as we take a look at curriculum design and tools designed for learners beginning their journey through education. Early interventions are key when learning new skills around technology, we discuss how to integrate these without overwhelming learners. Expect a focus on sensory education, support for home/blended learning, and a range of the key tools for helping learners with SEND. We will cover accessibility in some of the main platforms and give some useful apps to help learners engage and learn.
Teaching with accessible technology: Secondary
Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 17 February 2021. 3.30pm.
Secondary school learners begin to follow pathways that will shape the rest of their lives. How do we ensure that we are not limiting their options and are equipping them with skills and tools to deal with the wider world? This course will help you to improve the accessibility of your curriculum and to understand how to support learners to gain independence through technology. There will be a focus on technology and assessment. The course is designed to improve access for all, but has particular benefits for learners with SEND.
Teaching with accessible technology: Further Education
Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 24 February 2021. 3.30pm.
At college many learners are focusing on vocational subjects and will have a good idea of their strengths and weaknesses. Independent study is often an expectation and it can be difficult to keep up with the pace of learning required. This course will help you to be able to improve the accessibility of your curriculum and to understand how to support learners to learn more independently through the use of technology. There will be additional focus on organisational tools for learners, including information capture and wider learning management. We will give you skills and guidance on improving provision for learners with SEND.
We will be delivering a series of eight 20 minute webinar shorts on specific aspects of assistive technology for learners who may have additional learning needs and or disabilities. We will be publishing dates, times and booking links here in the coming weeks.
