City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF), 12 credits
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback. This course is an introduction to teaching, and it prepares learners for teaching in a wide range of contexts. You are not required to be in a teaching role to undertake this qualification. It is suitable for those wishing to train or teach, as well as those currently teaching or in a training role.
This course has the option of being delivered not only here at National Star, but there is also the possibility of it being delivered at your organisation as a fast-track qualification. This will be subject to minimum numbers of candidates.
What is involved?
The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers in the post-16 education and skills sector, such as:
- The roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Inclusive teaching and learning approaches
- Understanding principles and practices of assessment and constructive feedback
Assessment will be via written assignments and a micro teach.
Delivery: One evening per week over a term, with a requirement to attend all taught sessions, OR four full days teaching, plus a teaching assessment (half a day per four candidates).
Teaching required: There is no requirement for you to be in a teaching role to undertake this qualification.
Number of observations: One micro teach and a minimum of three peer observations.
Cost: £350 per person if attending National Star, and from £400 if we teach at your organisation.
