Moving and Handling of People – Induction

Duration:  1.5 days

Cost per delegate: £120

This comprehensive course includes detailed information, instruction and the practical application of all recognised handling techniques, including; legal requirements, risk assessing, responsibilities, standing transfers, bed manoeuvres using a variety of equipment including inserting a sling. Training is delivered through a broad range of presentations, group work activities and facilitated discussions. All staff responsible for moving and handling service users

Moving and Handling of People – Refresher

Duration: 2 hours

This 3 hours session covers legal responsibilities, dynamic risk assessing, and practical application of all recognised handling techniques.  Training is delivered through a broad range of practical activities, group work and facilitated discussions. All staff who have attended M&H training previously, requiring an update of knowledge and technical skills

Back Care and Posture Management

Duration: 1.5 hrs

This course explores and defines the foundations of positive ergonomics, back injury prevention, moving and handling techniques, basic understanding of anatomy and how these aspects of back care impact on everyday practice. All staff across a range of roles including; administrative, domestic, gardening, estates, catering.

Safeguarding Foundation – Adults

Duration: 3 hours

During this session delegates will explore and define types of abuse, responding to and reporting allegations and disclosures. Safeguarding is sensitively explored through a range of creative group activities and tutor-led discussions. All staff who work with people who regularly received care and support

Boundaries and Safer Working Practices

Duration: 1.5 hours

Delegates will explore a range of everyday dilemmas faced when working with service users, recognising the challenges and defining suitable methods to overcome them. We will reflect on the roles of individuals and groups in the settings you work in. All staff who work with people who regularly received care and support

Infection Prevention and Control

Duration: 1.5 hours

Delegates will be guided through this important subject, developing their awareness and understanding of how to prevent infection. Creative and practical activities and training methods support the learning experience in an engaging way. All staff who are supporting service users in their personal/clinical care and for staff who have responsibility for cleaning the environment

Administration of Medication

Duration: 5.5 hours

A comprehensive journey through legislative and practice requirements when administering medication, using a broad range of activities to engage the delegates and support their learning. All staff who administer medication including Registered Managers

Basic Food Safety

Duration: 1.5 hours

This course closely reflects guidance from the Food Standards Agency. Delegates will engage in a range of activities including a fun quiz to test their understanding. All staff who work in a catering environment and for care staff who support service users in their eating and drinking

Key Working

Duration: 2 hours

This bespoke training session supports delegates to understand how to support service users by effective interpretation of assessments, care planning and a person centred approach.  This engaging training programme explores positive methods to communicate and ways to reduce barriers of engagement and motivation. All staff who have key worker responsibilities currently or in the future

Care Planning and Record Keeping

Duration: 2 hours

During this session delegates will define, discuss and develop needs assessments through the use of case studies. Group work, practical activities and tutor-led direction supports the development of care plans and methods of review. All staff responsible for writing, updating and/or interpreting care information

Effective Supervision and Appraisal

During this course delegates will learn how to manage difficult conversations, identify training needs and celebrate successes. Includes group, paired and self-reflection activities along with trainer-led presentations and discussions. For staff who are responsible for supervising and appraising staff

Equality and Diversity

Mentoring in the workplace

Duration: 2 hours

Delegates will explore the skills required of an effective mentor.  Recognition of new staff feelings and anxiety shapes this training programme and defines sensitive and empathic ways of mentoring.  Working through Common Induction Standards delegates will learn how to support new staff to evidence/record what they have learnt. Person Centred Approaches

Duration: 2 hours

Delegates will explore person-centred approaches, helping people to be heard and make decisions. Practical activities will include how to develop care plans that reflect how the service user wants things done. For staff who are supporting service users

Disability Confidence

L2 Diploma in HSC

Duration: 6-18months

Cost per learner: £200 if NMDS compliant

£900 if not.

Learners will work through mandatory and personally selected optional units, supported by highly qualified assessors. They will keep in touch through face-to-face meetings at the staff members place of work, along with regular telephone and email contact. For staff who are supporting service users in their daily lives

L3 Diploma in HSC

Duration: 12-24 months

Cost per learner: £250 if NMDS compliant

£1,000 if not.

For staff who are taking some lead responsibilities within daily care routines and team working

L5 Diploma in Leadership for HSC

Duration 12-24 months

Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector – This course is designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding for those who wish to gain QTLS – Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills. For people who are working regularly in a learning/teaching environment and take regular lead responsibility for delivering learning

L3 Diploma in Advice and Guidance

To achieve this Level 3 NVQ Certificate learners will work through a series of units, and range from gathering evidence, sharing information and engaging with partners.   Learners will be supported by qualified and experienced assessors and evidence is gathered through a range of work based activity  and reflective writing. For staff who are responsible for providing advice and guidance within their role.

Diabetes

Duration: 1.5 hours

This training session offers delegates an understanding of the signs, symptoms and actions to take when supporting people with Diabetes.  They will learn about the types of Diabetes, ways it is controlled and how to identify and manage a health emergency. For staff who work with people who are Diabetic, or interested in this subject area.

Epilepsy

Duration: 1.5 hours

Cost per delegate: £15

Delegates will learn what causes Epilepsy, how the brain works, what happens during a seizure, seizure triggers and ways to manage a health emergency. Through presentation, group discussion and trainer lead instruction delegates will gain a depth of knowledge to effectively understand and support people with Epilepsy. For staff who work with people who have Epilepsy, or interested in this subject area.
