Head of Learning and Support Jo Waite and Apprentice Nurse Alison Dreezer swept the board at the University of Gloucestershire’s Apprenticeship Awards.

The university named Alison Apprentice Nurse of the Year and Jo was named the top Chartered Manager apprentice.

Head of IT Services James Palmer and Technology Innovation Manager Kayleigh Hunt were also shortlisted for awards.

After her award Jo Waite said: ‘It was lovely to be stood on the stage with NSC colleagues Kayleigh Hunt and James Palmer who were also nominated, and I felt very proud to be part of this group. I felt very happy to be recognised in this way.’

For Alison, this was the second apprenticeship award she has won in the past six months, having been named ‘Apprentice of the Year’ in the SoGlos Business Awards late last year.

She said: ‘I’m truly honoured and humbled to have won two apprentice of the year titles this year. I’m so proud of what I have achieved whilst doing a job that I love. There have been times when it has been mentally and emotionally difficult but with hard work and determination combined with support from National Star and the University of Gloucestershire my goal to become a qualified nurse is very close to becoming a reality.’

Chief Executive Lynette Barrett was thrilled to hear of Jo and Alison’s success. She said: ‘We take learning and development seriously at National Star and I’m so proud to see the hard work of Jo and Alison recognised publicly in this way.’
