National Star and Hartpury join forces to turn student donations into charity support
A new partnership between National Star and Hartpury is helping reduce waste and support young people with disabilities through generous student donations of homeware and clothing.
A developing partnership between National Star, Hartpury University and Hartpury College has resulted in kilos of kitchenware and clothing being donated to National Star’s charity retail team.
Hartpury students leaving campus accommodation at the end of term were encouraged to donate unwanted plates, mugs, pans and other homeware items, clothing, and accessories to National Star, to support its work with young adults with complex disabilities.
National Star’s charity retail team filled a large van full of donations thanks to the generosity of Hartpury students. The items will now be sorted before being sold in one of the charity’s five charity shops.
By working together National Star, Hartpury University and Hartpury College have successfully reduced unnecessary waste and helped to raise funds for a worthy local charity.
‘We are delighted with this new partnership which has the potential to raise significant funds for National Star whilst preventing unwanted items ending up in landfill,’ said Andrew Stark, National Star’s National Lead for Fundraising and Charity Retail
Hartpury’s Sustainability Director Jackie Jobes said: ‘It was a pleasure working with the National Star team to make a real impact by promoting circularity among our students and helping those in need at the same time. We are looking forward to working together in the coming years and making many more donations.’
