Student-led news show highlights sustainability efforts
National Star students created a polished spring digital news show, developing communication and teamwork skills while exploring sustainability, biodiversity and student activities.
National Star students are developing their research, teamwork and communication skills by producing a termly digital news show, made by students, for students.
The programme features students as presenters, interviewing members of staff at National Star about various topics.
Students are passionate about sustainability and biodiversity. So, it was no surprise when the students behind the show, aptly named the ‘National Star News Show’ decided that the spring edition of the programme should focus on conservation and thinking about the planet.

Student Harvey decided to interview Head of Sustainability Elaine Hodgin as part of the programme, researching questions, working with his staff team to programme his AAC communication device and setting up the interview.
Harvey’s interview and the rest of the features in the new story were highly polished, informative and professional.
Other features included in the spring news show included information on seasonal changes from winter to spring, activities to take part in during spring, spotlight on aerial dance and a feature on the ‘Habitat Heroes’ extra-curricular club.
