Talented National Star student Lily is using her creativity to lift the spirits of people visiting the Cheltenham Breast Centre.

Staff at the clinic commissioned National Star to produce an original piece of art to adorn the walls of the patient waiting area.

Thirteen students were given the opportunity to create art based on the landscape around National Star and Lily’s artwork was eventually chosen for the clinic.

Lily, who is a day student at National Star, said: ‘I felt very happy and excited doing the painting. I felt excited giving the painting to the clinic as it helps patients feel like they are outside and not trapped inside, gives them something to look at.’

The painting was produced over several weeks using acrylic paint techniques, overlayed with stencilling and stamped shapes.

Tutor Louise Adams said: ‘The students were fully engaged with this project and wanted to use their creative talents to make a positive contribution to the local community.

‘I am sure that visitors to the clinic will appreciate the painting as they are waiting for their appointments.’
