Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the Government’s preferred and standardised training package for health and social care staff. Developed with the involvement of people with lived experience, the programme aims to improve understanding of learning disability and autism, reduce health inequalities, and support professionals to provide person-centred, inclusive care.
This course helps delegates develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to make reasonable adjustments, communicate effectively and deliver high-quality support to people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Core Care Skills
Build strong, practical foundations for delivering safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care. Our Core Care Skills courses provide essential knowledge and hands‑on training in the areas that matter most across care settings.
All courses can be delivered as induction training for those new to care or as refresher training for staff who simply need an update to maintain safe, compliant practice. Specialist Communication
Effective communication sits at the heart of high‑quality support. Our courses equip staff with practical strategies to communicate confidently with people who have diverse needs, abilities and communication styles.
As an accredited Makaton training provider, we deliver the full progression pathway—from introductory taster sessions through to Level 1 and Level 2 training. This ensures learners can build their skills step by step and develop meaningful, accessible communication with the people they support. 5-day Intervenor Training
The course is designed for Intervenors or those assigned to work in a 1:1 situation with a Deafblind / Multi-Sensory Impaired child or adult. The course is intended for people who may not have received previous formal training in Multi- Sensory Impairment. We are happy to have other professionals or interested individuals attend the course.
Aim: To provide participants with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to carry out the role of Intervenor in educational, home, community, health and social care settings.
