Meet Elliott, a current student in his first year at National Star College. At birth Elliott was a perfectly healthy baby boy. Then at only 5 weeks old he experienced a very unusual life changing moment when his body failed to absorb Vitamin K. He had urgent, lifesaving Brain Surgery which, although successful, left him with an uncertain future.

As Elliott developed, there were missed milestones, and he was subsequently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Right Sided Hemiplegia, Epilepsy and Significant Learning Difficulties.

Elliott’s development has been assisted through inter-action with Bobath Centre, HemiHelp, Scope Charity and throughout his school years he has progressed and improved despite his disabilities. Elliott thrives on the social interaction with his family, friends and peers and is an avid brass band enthusiast.

On 6 April, ‘Team Elliott’ will take on our annual Sunrise Walk, bringing some of his family members, plus close family friends together to raise money for National Star.

One ‘Team Elliott’ member said “We are all overwhelmed and delighted by the support Elliott has received since starting at National Star College in September. He has settled well, and his increased confidence and physical development has already been incredible in this short space of time. We felt the Sunrise Walk would be an opportunity to give our thanks back to National Star. None of us are regular or habitual walkers and are approaching this as a fun but worthwhile experience.”

If you would like to put your best foot forward and raise vital funds which support young adults with disabilities, such as Elliott, sign up today.
