Foundation House marks first birthday
It’s been a year since National Star opened Foundation House, our specialist long–term accommodation for young adults with disabilities.
Based in the heart of Gloucester, Foundation House offers the expertise and support of National Star staff, who have been selected for their exceptionally high standards, reliability, friendliness and professionalism. It’s currently home to 14 residents who are encouraged to take responsibility for directing their own care.
Residents benefit from a number of facilities necessary for comfortable and supported living. These include overhead tracking from bedroom to bathroom, spacious wet rooms, a fully accessible bath, Sky television and wireless internet. Foundation House also boasts two large, light and airy lounges that are perfect for socialising and relaxing, with the downstairs space opening onto gardens on both sides. Two fully accessible kitchens enable residents to prepare their own meals.
In addition, residents continue to access National Star’s extensive range of additional facilities, and are enjoying a relationship forged with Art Shape, a local club that provides drama, arts and crafts. In January 2015 Foundation House was graded ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission. Residents are now busy planning for their Christmas party.
