Walking on air
A trio of daredevils are taking to the skies in aid of National Star.
GP Dr Iain Jarvis will be one of three people strapping themselves in for an out–of–this–world adventure by taking part in a fundraising wing walk on 10 June in Cirencester.
Based at Aspen Medical Practice in Gloucester, Dr Jarvis has worked in the county for 25 years. He has been National Star’s GP for the past five years and supported the roll–out of the coronavirus vaccine at our Ullenwood campus in January.
Now he’s looking forward to standing on the wings of a Boeing Stearman biplane, flying up to 120mph and experiencing a series of flypasts, zoom climbs, steep dives and banks.
‘I saw the flyer for the wing walk and just thought, I’ve got to do that,’ said Dr Jarvis, who aims to raise £1,700 for our charity.
Dr Jarvis will join National Star’s Jade Claridge, a Behaviour Support Practitioner and Matthew Dickinson, Restaurant Manager at Lumiere in Cheltenham.
‘This is a great way to put more funds in the pot and enable National Star to continue to do the fantastic work they do to support everyone who comes here,’ said Jade.
Matt added: ‘My mum supported several children with learning difficulties, so I have always appreciated how important this work is and the amazing difference that can be made to young people’s lives.’
