Award-winning staff training at National Star
Rachel Smith joined National Star as a facilitator in 2015. Now, in less than two years, she has been promoted to a senior role.
She works at Bradbury Gardens, National Star’s residential development in Cheltenham, supporting young people with disabilities and learning difficulties.
‘The reason I left my last job was because there wasn’t much opportunity for promotion and the training was limited,’ says Rachel.
‘The training at National Star has been amazing. There are so many job prospects for people who want to work hard and develop their careers.’
National Star’s two-week induction course recently won the Princess Royal Training Award, a prestigious national accolade.
‘The induction training was thorough, and the interactive parts were great. I felt after the training that I knew what I had to do in my job and it made me feel confident.
‘Having a mentor and regular audits over the first six months worked well as it gave me a structure to develop my skills.’
National Star values a diverse workforce and is a proud Disability Confident employer.
