I have a caution and / or conviction – can I still work for National Star?

Can I submit a CV?
If you would prefer to apply for one of our vacancies with your CV, please also provide a covering letter in support of your application and email both CV and letter to email@example.com.
I need support or adjustments through part or all of the application and recruitment process – what should I do?
Please contact the Human Resources team on 01242 504300 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We can provide support in completing the application form, and we can make adjustments to the recruitment process. For example, changing where the interview will be held, telephoning you rather than emailing or providing a larger print application form.
What should I expect at an interview?
We will ask you to talk through your career history, and ask a series of competency-based questions. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask us any questions you may have. In addition, we may ask you to complete a task relevant to the role you are applying for, and if so, this will be explained when you are invited to an interview.
When will I hear if I have been successfully shortlisted for interview?
We try to shortlist as soon after the closing date as we can, and you will hear from us by email if you have been successful or not. Please do check your email regularly.
What should I bring with me to interview?
You will be asked to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application form, which will require you to provide information about:
- All names known by and dates
- Your last five years of address history
- Your National Insurance number
- Your UK driving licence number
- Your passport number
We will also need to see a range of documents to confirm your identity. Please refer to the Government’s ID checking guidelines and ensure that you also bring along all relevant qualification certificates.
If you are unable to provide the required documents or complete the DBS form in full on the day of your interview and you are successful in your application, the start date of your employment may be delayed until we have this information.
If you are a member of the DBS update service, please bring a copy of your DBS certificate and written confirmation of your permission for a status check to be undertaken should you be successful.
What background checks will you carry out?
A disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required – usually at an enhanced level – but this will be discussed with you beforehand. We will also undertake identity and right to work in the UK checks. A full employment history should be provided and we will ask for employment references.
