For Zee, working at National Star has become something of a family affair – like him, both his mum and his wife are facilitators at the charity. It wasn’t a scenario Zee could have predicted when he moved from South Africa to England in 2005 and began his career working in the care field, supporting the elderly in residential accommodation and in their homes. Six years later he was encouraged by his mum to follow in her footsteps and apply to be a facilitator at National Star. Find out more.
Hannah, Trainee Tutor and Facilitator
Drama and theatre graduate Hannah, a key member of staff at National Star in Wales, was an original member of the team at Mahmilad when it first opened its doors. After graduating she worked as a personal assistant to a young man and knew almost immediately that her future career lay in health and social care. Find out more.
Catherine, Lead Nurse
Catherine has worked at National Star for 13 years, and originally joined us as a Nurse Practitioner. Day to day she liaises with parents, carers, therapists, colleagues and learners in order to deliver a high standard of holistic and individualised medical care. She works at our college campus in Ullenwood. Find out more.
Adam, Residential Manager
Adam joined National Star in 2012 as a Residential Manager. He has responsibility for 22 learners and 70 staff. His overall aim is to ensure that a learner’s experience of National Star College is as good as it can possibly be, and when it’s time for them to leave, they have learned as many new skills as possible and been exposed to lots of different opportunities. John, Senior Driver
John has worked at National Star since 2014. As a Senior Driver he works within the organisation’s Transport team and supports the day to day activities of the college’s learners. Find out more.

Paul, Senior Facilitator at National Star at Hereford
National Star at Hereford was launched in September 2014, when Paul joined us on a secondment basis from a local school. Following this, Paul applied to join National Star full-time. Click here to find out more.
Zoe, Head of Registered Care
Zoe has been part of National Star’s residential services for more than 15 years and in 2019 she became Head of Registered Care. She is responsible for evaluating and implementing systems and practices to improve the services we deliver, providing support to Residential Managers and leading on recruitment and pre-entry assessments for potential learners. Gemma, LiftTraining Programme Co-ordinator
Gemma joined National Star in 2012 as LiftTraining’s Programme Co-ordinator. She looks after a small team of Travel Trainers who support and develop learner’s abilities and confidence in the use of public or other forms of transport. Gemma also delivers travel training. In her role she is required to co-ordinate meetings with potential learners and meetings with contacts across the various schools and colleges we work with. Holly, Supporter Development Co-ordinator
Holly began working at National Star in 2012 as an Events and Community Fundraiser. Since then she has progressed to the role of Supporter Development Co-ordinator. Each day for Holly is different as she works across a variety of projects that include the management and organisation of events for supporters, the management of the Fundraising supporters’ database and the facilitation of financial reconciliation. Elaine has worked at National Star for seven years, initially in one of our on-campus residences and now in our Day Team within our Residential Services. In her role Elaine supports learners to ensure they are as independent as possible during their learning and social activities – including delivering a high standard of personal care.
