Help bridge the disability employment gap
You’re invited to National Star’s annual Reverse Jobs Fair, taking place on Tuesday 17 March, with the option to attend in person or virtually.
This event is an opportunity to come and meet our students who are actively looking for opportunities to enter the workforce. Our students have a wide range of skills to offer across multiple industries and are seeking employers who are willing to speak to them about their industry. The aim of this event is to build student knowledge, in addition to building their communication skills and confidence.
What is a Reverse Jobs Fair?
Our Reverse Job Fair is an opportunity for our work programmes students to showcase themselves and the skills and experience they have gained through taking part in working placements during their time at National Star. A traditional Job Fair can feel a daunting experience for many but through reversing the experience our students host their own stall in familiar surroundings to meet with visiting employers and share and gather information to help them towards the career aspirations as well as practicing their communication and employability skills.
How can you attend?
- In person: Employers will speak directly with students, giving them the opportunity to sell themselves, build confidence, and develop their communication skills.
- Virtually: We will match you with specific students for a 15-minute Microsoft Teams meeting, where students will ask questions and learn more about your organisation and industry.
Why get involved?
The number of disabled people in employment has dropped since the COVID-19 pandemic. According to NHS Digital (2022), only 4.8% of adults with a learning disability are currently in employment. By taking part, you’ll be helping to bridge this gap while meeting talented, enthusiastic potential future employees. We would love to involve as many organisations as possible to show our students that there are endless industries and possibilities for them to explore. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please complete the form below to register your interest.
We hope to see you there!
