Community learning

Our community learning programme is the perfect way for you to learn something new, get active and meet new friends. Sign up today!

If you’re aged 19 or over and have a disability, there may be a part-time learning opportunity at National Star that’s just right for you. We guarantee a warm welcome, lots of encouragement and the chance to develop some exciting new skills!

Our community learning courses have previously been funded by Gloucestershire County Council. This meant we were able to subsidise our courses. But we were unsuccessful in securing this support in 2023/24 and have had to increase our charges.

National Star will continue to apply for funding through the County Council next year.

To take part in a course you will need to be accompanied by a carer / support worker.

I have been attending the fitness session at the Star College for five years. These sessions have proved invaluable to my health and wellbeing, due to the excellent knowledge and care of the lead physiotherapist.

Also of note is that through the college, the standard of equipment and variety is regularly looked at with a view to improvement. These sessions are aimed at people with varying levels of disability which in my case was a stroke and it has enabled me to maintain my fitness.
