Student transition event | Life after college

There’s a lot to think about when you leave college. Where will you live and with whom? Will you look for a job or a volunteer placement? What clubs and groups will you join to keep busy and make new friends? What level of support will you need?

National Star learners and their parents are invited to join us at a face-to-face life after college transition event at National Star in Ullenwood on Friday 23 October, between 10am – 3.30pm. There will be both local and national long-term accommodation providers in attendance, along with representatives from community groups and sports clubs that you may wish to join to build a network of friends.

This is a unique event that provides an exclusive opportunity for parents, carers and learners to visit this “one-stop-shop” to access a wide network of exhibitors and contacts to prepare for life beyond college.

It is also a great opportunity to meet other National Star families, share experiences and chat about the transition to life beyond college over a cup of tea or coffee.

The first hour of the event is exclusively for learners to visit and talk to providers and all other visitors are welcome from 11am.

Join us in the Dance Studio between 11am – 3.30pm to meet our internal teams and discover the support and opportunities available:

• Transition Support Team – Chat directly about your young person’s transition plans.

• Life After College app – Explore housing and occupation providers in your local area or beyond with guidance from our team.

• National Star Community Learning – Pick up our latest Prospectus and find out more about the courses running this year.

• Therapies Team – Learn about the private therapy sessions currently available at our Ullenwood campus.

• Respite Team – Interested in booking a respite stay? Come and speak to the team about availability this year.

• Parent-led Supported Living Service – Hear first-hand from parents of an ex-student about how they set up a supported living service for their son and others.
